What Is FromLight?
An atmospheric action-exploration game set in a world where the boundary between light and shadow has begun to collapse — and the ruins left behind hold the only answers.
Bringing the sense of wonder back to immersive simulations.
FromLight is a cooperative multiplayer episodic game with native PC and VR crossplay, bringing a top-quality narrative role-playing game experience to modern players regardless of what platform they own. Taking our cues from tabletop gaming, but leaning into the action, excitement, and immersion of first person and VR games, we aim to redefine how you look at interactive entertainment.
You are a nobody, captured and indentured for a debt that may or may not be yours. Once you escape, you don't find freedom, but rather you find yourself in the midst of a conflict where your actions just may alter the balance.
Your friends, comrades, and the nature of what is good or evil may just hinge on decisions you choose to, or not to make. Are you ready for an adventure?
Core Pillars
Ruins That Remember
Every temple complex is a layered archaeological site — built, abandoned, repurposed, and abandoned again across centuries. Navigating them means reading the architecture as much as the map. Structural collapses open new paths. Residual energy from Luminal anchors can be redirected. The deeper you go, the older the silence becomes.
Deliberate and Dangerous
Combat in FromLight is not about overwhelming force. The things that live in the collapsed threshold zones are adapted to darkness in ways you are not. Positioning, timing, and knowing when to disengage matter more than raw power. Light is a resource — use it wisely.
History Written in Stone
The story of the Sundering is not told through cutscenes — it's embedded in the architecture. Carvings, structural choices, the placement of anchor shrines: everything the Luminal built was intentional. Piecing together what happened, and why, is the core of the FromLight experience.
Three Perspectives, No Easy Answers
The Ardent Remnant, the Veilborn, and the Unbound each have their own interpretation of the Sundering — and their own agenda for what should happen next. As an Unbound yourself, you'll navigate their competing claims without the luxury of full trust in any of them.
Those Who Remain
Three groups survived the Sundering. Each one is certain the others are wrong about what it means.
The Ardent Remnant
Keepers of the old ways
They maintain the shrines, preserve the rituals, and wait for the light to return. Memory has made them disciplined — and rigid. They believe the Sundering was a failure of will, and that sufficient devotion can reverse it.
The Veilborn
Adapted to the dark
They learned to move through shadow rather than fear it, building their settlements in the deep valleys where sunlight never reaches. Pragmatic, secretive, and deeply misunderstood — they believe the threshold is gone for good, and survival means accepting that.
The Unbound
Wanderers and relic hunters
Exiles who belong to neither faction. They travel the ruins alone, know more than they let on, and trust no one. You are one of them — which means you understand that the most dangerous thing in the ruins is usually another person.
Where We Are
FromLight is in active development at Murder Floof Studios. We're a small team building something we're genuinely excited about — which means we're taking the time to get it right. Follow our updates for dev logs, lore drops, and early looks at what we're building.
